Lady Gaga filmed the video for her song “The Dead Dance” in Xochimilco, Mexico… A “terrifying” place favored by musicians and filmmakers.
The video was directed by Tim Burton.

Lady Gaga and Tim Burton filmed on a pre-Hispanic island in Xochimilco, a tourist area south of Mexico City. The project combines dark, gothic, and fantasy elements.
The video for “The Dead Dance” is part of the second season of the Netflix series Wednesday.
In the black-and-white video, Lady Gaga emerges from the fog, stands up, and begins to move and sway to the music.
About Xochimilco
Before the two artists showed the world this “haunted” place, Xochimilco had already been featured in a documentary by British musician and producer Steven Wilson.
At the end of April last year, Christina Aguilera shared images of her visit to Xochimilco. In one of the snapshots, she appears wearing a colorful flower crown reminiscent of the iconic painter Frida Kahlo’s signature style.
Several decades earlier, during the height of the so-called Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, Xochimilco served as the setting for the classic film “María Candelaria,” starring Dolores del Río and Pedro Armendáriz. The film won the Palme d’Or at the 1946 Cannes Film Festival.
