New studies show that listening to music with 120-130 beats per minute, such as house music, can delay aging by up to six years.
Researchers at University College London (UCL) analyzed genetic data from more than 35,000 people and found that listening to rhythms at that speed (tempo) helps improve brain health and reduces cortisol, a stress hormone linked to aging, by 20%.
People who regularly listen to house music show brain activity similar to that of young adults and have better heart rate control, both factors linked to a longer lifespan.
In other words, dancing to house music could actually keep the brain younger.
Between 2010 and 2021, UCL was recognized as one of the top ten universities in the world (QS World University Rankings).
