Wolfgang Flür, who rose to fame as part of Kraftwerk between 1973 and 1987, released his third solo album, “Times,” on Friday, March 28.
Early reports about the record indicated it was star-studded, featuring collaborations with artists such as Boris Blank of Yello, Peter Hook of New Order, and two songs with Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter, “Über_All” and “Monday to the Moon.”
The problem is that this Thomas Bangalter turned out to be a fake.
Kraftwerk’s Wolfgang Flür said he had spoken to the alleged Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk via Facebook in 2023.

Now, following the official release of his album and several investigations by Daft Punk’s management, it has been confirmed that the real Thomas Bangalter was not behind those two collaborations, and that the former Kraftwerk musician had been duped by a still-unknown individual on social media.
Even the fake Thomas Bangalter had told him that his credit on both songs should have been “Thomas Vangarde,” and that’s how it turned out.
Daft Punk officially announced their disbandment in 2021.
