On Sunday (December 8), Sean Lennon and the rest of his family will mark the 44th anniversary of the death of his father, John Lennon, in New York City in 1980.
Considered by many to be another example of the “Day the Music Died,” John Lennon’s untimely passing has had an impact on countless people around the world.
No one has felt that impact, Sean Lennon said, more than his mother, in an interview with BBC Radio 6 Music.

Sean Lennon also recalled his parents’ relationship around the creation of the album “Mind Games” in 1973, which was recently released in a collector’s box set.
John Lennon was in the midst of the famous 18-month period, remembered as his “Lost Weekend,” when he was separated from Ono.
It was 18 months, between 1973 and 1975, when John Lennon was estranged from Yoko with lots of partying, drugs, scandals and a brief romance with May Pang, their assistant.
(Yoko herself was the one who encouraged May Pang to become her lover).
