Mauro Castillo is a Colombian singer, trombonist, composer, producer, and actor, best known for his performance in Encanto (2021) as Felix (“We Don’t Talk About Bruno”) from and his vibrant contributions to salsa and tropical music. Born in Cali, Colombia—a city often called the salsa capital of the world—Castillo has a rich musical background.
He began his career performing with prominent salsa orchestras, such as Grupo Niche, where he played trombone and lent his voice to some of the group’s hits. Nowadays Mauro is fully dedicated to the different sides of his public persona, as well as his solo music project.
After his performance in the White House for the Latin Heritage Month, for the Christmas upcoming holiday season, based on his academic musical upbringing, Mauro releases a new version of one of the most important all time Jazz Standards “Fly Me To The Moon”, which on this occasion is interpreted on the jazz arrangement of the recently deceased Quincy Jones.
