This weekend, maestro quincy jones died at the age of 91.
After working as a bandleader in the ’50s (and working with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie to Frank Sinatra), Quincy Jones’ truly legendary contributions to the culture began in the ’60s as a producer, composer and arranger.
Quincy Jones produced Lesley Gore’s number one Hot 100 single, “It’s My Party” in 1963 and conducted several classics for the Brothers Johnson, for George Benson and also for Donna Summer.
Quincy helped change the direction of pop music alongside Michael Jackson, serving as the King of Pop’s right-hand man on the hit albums Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad.
He was the man who produced “We Are The World,” a song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.
