Beginning in September and unfolding over eight weeks, the Community and Sound program will lend itself to the “understanding, assembling and running” of sound system events, as shared via the collective’s Instagram last week.
FBM have lined up a range of “trusted industry professionals” to host various workshops and panel talks as well as a “hands-on” workshop focusing specifically on how to build a sound system.
The program kicks off on 21st September with a session from Rishi (Outlook Festival) and Aarti (Dub & Dal) exploring sound system culture “as a space for community building, cultural expression and engagement”.
The Berlin-based collective originally launched in 2020 with the aim of providing “a safer space for women, trans and non-binary people for the learning and practising of DJing and music production”. Jet Mila, Hanoosh and BBY YVES were among last year’s mentees.
