The New York Mets will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Beatles’ historic performance at Shea Stadium during Beatles Night at Citi Field on August 15. During their game against the Seattle Mariners, the team will pay tribute to the 1965 performance, which at the time was the first rock concert in a major American stadium.
The old Shea Stadium, opened a year earlier in 1964, was the home of the Mets and the New York Jets before being demolished in 2009 to make way for Citi Field.
