The new track marks the first musical collaboration between the two pop stars.

The Queen of Pop, who leads this year’s MTV Video Music Awards nominations with 13, announced that she and Charli have given a new twist to “Danceteria,” a song from Madonna’s recent album, “Confessions II.”
The original song was co-produced by Madonna, Andrew Watt, Cirkut, and Stuart Price.
Titled “Danceteria Afterhours,” the new version will be released on Thursday (September 24) via Warner Records.
Madonna had teased the remix in recent days by sharing a snippet of the song on Instagram. “Want to talk about Madonna and Charli?” they sing over a video of them dancing in a white-walled studio. “Everybody here is a work of art.”
“Let’s take it to the East Side, baby…” Madonna wrote alongside the teaser, indicating a September 24 release date.
“Danceteria Afterhours” is described as “a celebration of the bold beginnings and influences that shaped each artist’s unique trajectory,” according to the press release.
The collaboration comes after months of speculation about a possible musical union between the two pop stars. Rumors began circulating after Madonna and Charli sat together at Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2027 menswear show in late June.
Their connection had already generated buzz earlier this year when fans speculated that the two stars were feuding after Madonna appeared to respond to Charli’s assertion—in her single “Rock Music”—that “the dance song is dead.”
“If your dance song feels dead… maybe you’re playing the wrong music,” Madonna enigmatically posted on Instagram.
Despite the speculation, Charli has always spoken admiringly of Madonna. While promoting “The Moment” earlier this year, she praised Madonna’s 1991 documentary, “Truth or Dare.” “I love Madonna’s ‘Truth or Dare.’ It has great choreography, and she’s just one of a kind,” she commented.
“Danceteria Afterhours” follows Madonna’s first musical collaborations with Kylie Minogue: “Love Sensation (Afterhours Radio Edit)” and “Love Sensation (Afterhours Mix),” two new versions of “Love Sensation,” a song included on Madonna’s album “Confessions II,” released in July.
The collaboration came after “Love Sensation” reached number 1 on Billboard’s Dance Airplay chart in July, adding to the success of the album, which debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200.
