This week, Madonna’s new album, “Confessions II,” reached the top of the Billboard 200, the chart of best-selling albums in the United States, selling 134,000 copies.
Madonna has had 10 albums at number one: three in the 1980s, four in the 2000s, two in the 2010s, and now one in the 2020s.
Oddly, she didn’t have any number one albums in the 1990s. In that decade, her highest position was number two with six albums, including “The Immaculate Collection,” “Erotica,” and “Evita.”
“Confessions II” also marks Madonna’s 24th album in the Billboard 200 Top 10. The only artists with more albums in the top ten are The Rolling Stones (38), Barbra Streisand (34), The Beatles, Frank Sinatra (both with 32), and Elvis Presley (27).
The Billboard 200 chart reports the 200 best-selling albums in the United States each week since 1956.
