It’s a night full of magic, promises, celebrations, and music. The tradition celebrates the legacy of Pope Saint Sylvester I, the 33rd pope of the Catholic Church, who reigned from 314 to 335 AD, during the reign of Emperor Constantine I. During his pontificate, important basilicas were built in Rome, including the old St. Peter’s Basilica and the Basilica of St. John Lateran.
Saint Sylvester died on December 31, 335, which is why the Church celebrates his feast day on that day. This year, a constellation of Latin music stars in Cartagena, Colombia, are ready to commemorate the man who led the Church during a pivotal period, when Christianity ceased to be persecuted in the Roman Empire after the Edict of Milan. The lineup for the Grand Saint Sylvester Dinner this December 31 at the fabulous Hotel Las Américas is headlined by Carlos Vives with Tito Nieves, Jessi Uribe, Eddy Herrera, and Luister La Voz.

The Hotel Las Americas is located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, just minutes from Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG) and the Historic Center. It offers two accommodation options in a modern and comfortable setting: Torre del Mar and the exquisite Caribbean-style facilities at Casa de Playa, featuring infinity pools, restaurants serving Caribbean and international cuisine, the renowned Las Americas Spa on the 3rd floor of Torre del Mar, and its International Convention and Exhibition Center, which offers over 7,000 m² of flexible space and a capacity for more than 4,500 people in auditorium setups and more than 7,000 people in open and/or cocktail-style setups.
Carlos Vives will be there on December 31st. Earlier this month, coinciding with the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, he appeared on the cover of Billboard Español alongside Fonseca, Juanes, and Camilo under the title “Homeland, Fatherhood, and Football.” Vives has had 31 hits on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart, 14 of which reached the top 10 and five of which reached number one.

Joining Carlos Vives for the New Year’s Eve celebration will be the legendary Tito Nieves. The “Pavarotti of Salsa” was a backup singer for Héctor Lavoe’s orchestra and later joined Conjunto Clásico in the late 1970s. Nieves began his solo career in 1986. Today, he is one of the greatest living legends of Salsa.
Joining Vives and Nieves will be Grammy and Latin Grammy nominee Jessi Uribe. Uribe is the biggest star in Popular music (the Colombian variant of Regional Mexican music) and has had two number 1 hits on Billboard’s challenging Regional Mexican Airplay chart.
Completing the lineup for the Hotel Las Américas’ New Year’s Eve Dinner on December 31st are Merengue sensation Eddy Herrera and the explosive singer Luister LA Voz.
Herrera had his first international hit with “El Jardinero,” released three months after joining Wilfrido Vargas’ group. He remained with that group from 1984 to 1990. who debuted as a solo artist. Herrera is absolutely the King of Merengue, remaining as relevant as any other in the genre that originated in the Dominican Republic. Meanwhile, Luister La Voz is currently Colombia’s “darling” star. In the last year, he has had two super hits in the country, “Ozono” and “La María.” His new hit is a collaboration with Jay Wheeler; “Modelito.”
