Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, one of the most iconic voices in pop, has died at the age of 75.
The news was confirmed in a statement published on her official website, in which her family and team said:
“Bonnie’s family and team are deeply saddened to announce that Bonnie passed away unexpectedly last night in a hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness for which she was being treated.”
In May, the artist, born in Skewen, South Wales, was placed in a medically induced coma after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal. Although she emerged from the coma last month, her condition remained very serious, and she was in intensive care.
Bonnie Tyler captivated audiences worldwide with her distinctive raspy voice and hits that resonated with several generations, including “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” and “It’s a Heartache.” His legacy will remain as one of the greatest figures in international music.
