The category is Best Latin Song and joins six similar categories that recognize songwriters from around the world in different genres.
Grammys have been announced for Best Rock Song, Best R&B Song, Best Rap Song, Best Country Song, Best American Roots Song, and Best Song Written for Visual Media (film, TV, video games).

Recording Academy President Harvey Mason Jr. said:
“We all know the popularity and success of Latin music. Bad Bunny just won the Grammy for Album of the Year for an album entirely in Spanish. Latin music is one of the most vibrant and influential forces in the world, but until now, Latin songwriters haven’t had a specific award within Latin music. This new category gives them significant recognition, expanding the genre’s representation in the Grammy process, which continues to have a global impact.”

The Best Latin Song award will be presented for the first time on February 7, 2027, at the 69th Annual Grammy Awards.
