The remix collection is due to arrive on 24th April via AD 93.

james K has announced the release of a new remix EP to accompany her 2025 album, ‘Friend’.

Reimagining tracks from the AD 93-released album – one of DJ Mag’s favourites of 2025 – the new release features contributions from of K Wata, Special Guest DJ, Hesaitix, Yushh, JASSS, Drew McDowall, Roza Terenzi, Loidis, Objekt, Priori, Stone, and Arushi Jain.

Two of the remixes, ‘Play’ (Objekt Remix) and ‘N’Balmed’ (JASSS Purple Remix), have been revealed ahead of the full release on 24th April.

Speaking on the project, james K wrote: “Friends remix ‘Friend’. It is such a sweet honor to have my friends and collaborators, whose work has inspired mine, interpret and translate this work into new narratives.”

Commenting on his remix of ‘Play’, Objekt wrote: “I haven’t done a remix since 2015, but when Jamie asked last year if I would remix a track from her LP, it felt like the time was right: I adore the album, had a clear idea in my head of what I wanted to do (with just enough time to try it out), and it was for a friend.

“I was drawn to ‘Play’ in particular because of a nagging sense that the melody had another, darker side to it that the original arrangement belied – I couldn’t stop thinking about how it would sound reharmonized, with the vocal recontextualised over a moody, slinky pop-dancehall version. So I started by rewriting the chord progression, and the rest pretty much wrote itself (quite naturally for once). I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of producing pop music and really loved working on this; I hope I can explore this world further. I’m very grateful to Jamie for the opportunity and trust.”
