“The Call of Pachamama” by Oscar Caucaly

Author

In the worldview of the indigenous cultures of the Andean region, Pachamama is Mother Earth, a protective deity and creator of life who provides fertility to the fields and the growth of plants. She symbolizes the harmony and balance necessary to live in harmony with nature.

The talented Colombian pianist, based in New York, Oscar Caucaly, presents his latest album, “THE CALL OF PACHAMAMA,” a musical journey that awakens our deep connection with nature and all that surrounds us. Through evocative melodies and enveloping rhythms that range from contemporary and traditional jazz to free jazz, the album invites reflection on the importance of collectively caring for our planet.

“This album stems from my connection with nature and the music that has influenced me. Also, since arriving in New York, I’ve always been amazed by the way the seasons change and how radically nature transforms,” comments Oscar Caucaly.

The Call of Pachamama, through its melodies, reflects hope and environmental awareness. It also pays homage to the American pianist Bruce Barth, whom Oscar admires as both a musician and a mentor.

This album is accompanied by a series of videos that listeners can enjoy on the artist’s official YouTube channel. These will be released gradually for the general public’s enjoyment. The mixing and mastering were handled by Alon Benjamini, a renowned sound engineer and drummer who has also worked with artists such as Ari Hoening, Max Light, Avishai Cohen, Gilad Hekselman, Takeshi Ohbayashi, and Eli Degibri, among others.

The album was also recorded at the renowned EastSide Sound Studios, a historic recording studio located on the Lower East Side of New York City. Founded by Lou Holtzman in 1972, it has hosted important artists such as Lou Reed, Les Paul, Sting, and John Zorn, among others.

“I want to invite listeners to have a close and deep connection with nature, to care for the environment, through appreciation and awareness that we are all part of the same ecosystem. It’s also an invitation to discover a modern jazz offering that seeks to connect with lovers of the genre,” says Oscar Caucaly.

The album, composed of nine tracks, features renowned virtuoso musicians, including:
