An intimate, elegant, and sensual song that is part of the creative universe of his project “Alquimia.”
Venezuelan musician and poet Gus Ormo presents “Desde Ayer,” a contemporary pop ballad born from the piano and pure emotion, portraying that exact moment, as unexpected as it is inevitable, when someone bursts into your life and, the next day, already inhabits your thoughts, your skin, and your heart.
With brief but profoundly emotional lyrics, “Desde Ayer” is built on honesty: it doesn’t speak of idealized love, but of that real moment when one asks oneself, almost without meaning to: “I don’t know what’s happening to me… I’m probably falling in love.”

“‘Desde ayer’ was born from an inexplicable feeling. From waking up and feeling that something had changed inside. It’s a song about allowing yourself to feel again, even after experiences that have marked us,” explains Gus Ormo.
The song was produced in an intimate and elegant format that highlights the artist’s natural connection with the piano, the instrument from which most of his compositions originate. In this release, Gus Ormo collaborates with renowned GRAMMY-winning saxophonist Ed Calle and musician Manuel Gámez, who contribute a sophisticated and emotional atmosphere to the track.
“I wanted the song to breathe. To feel not overproduced, but heartfelt. Voice, piano, and musicians who connect with me through energy, not just technique,” adds the artist.
Based in the United States for over a decade, Gus Ormo has cultivated an artistic style that fuses romanticism, sensuality, and contemporary poetry. Although his career has historically been linked to ballads, today the artist presents a clear evolution: more direct lyrics, a more contemporary aesthetic, and a narrative that connects with young audiences without losing emotional depth.
“I am romantic, but I am also sensual; I write seductive poetry; I am tenderness and desire at the same time. ‘Desde ayer’ (Since Yesterday) has that alchemy: elegance, subtle eroticism, and a lot of truth,” he affirms.
This new stage leaves behind previous labels to give way to a more authentic identity aligned with his current creative focus, where emotion is the central axis.
“Desde Ayer” is part of the creative universe of “Alquimia” (Alchemy), Gus Ormo’s most personal recording project, meticulously crafted over several years. More than an album, “Alquimia” is conceived as an experience where lyrics, image, sound, and emotion merge.
“Alquimia is the divine architecture between what I write, what I feel, and what sounds. It is an emotional journey for the listener,” the artist explains.
The project brings together already well-known songs like “100 Suspiros” and “Venezuela,” the latter having become an organic phenomenon thanks to its profound emotional connection with the public. Gus Ormo is also working on special versions and instrumental pieces that will be part of future releases of the project.
Designed to be listened to in moments of calm, joy, or introspection, “Desde Ayer” is an invitation to let our guard down and believe in love again in times dominated by immediacy, technology, and emotional barriers.
“I want people to receive this song with love, with open hearts. Everything sown with love is reaped with love, and this song was made from that place,” concludes Gus Ormo.
