The world-renowned Guayacán Orquesta, one of the most influential groups in the history of salsa, announces the official release of its new single, “Mala Costumbre”.

The song is an original composition by Nino Caicedo, one of the orchestra’s creative pillars. The arrangements were handled by the world-class trumpeter, producer, and arranger Luis “Perico” Ortiz, recognized for his work as arranger and producer of the landmark album Siembra, considered one of the most important works in salsa.

“Mala Costumbre” stands out for its sound reminiscent of the classic salsa of the great legends, with elegant, nuanced arrangements and a structure that pays homage to the genre’s golden age. This new production fuses tradition and modernity, reaffirming Guayacán Orquesta’s signature sound.

The vocals are by Joan Barreto, a newcomer to the salsa scene making his official debut with Guayacán. His fresh, emotional, and distinctive voice brings a renewed energy to the project.

General production was overseen by maestro Alexis Lozano, director and founder of Guayacán Orquesta, whose vision and experience have been fundamental in preserving the group’s essence and projecting it to new generations.

With over three decades of experience, Guayacán Orquesta continues to be a benchmark of musical excellence both in Colombia and internationally. With “Mala Costumbre,” to be released on November 28, the group reaffirms its commitment to creating works that honor the salsa tradition while incorporating new sounds and voices.
