Seven Realities

1. This is already Taylor Swift’s most successful week of her career and the second-highest sales week for any album in the modern era since Luminate began electronically tracking data in 1991.

2. The only week with higher sales in that span was Adele’s album “25,” which sold 3.3 million copies in its first week in 2015.

3. Of the 2.7 million copies sold, 1.2 million were vinyl copies.

4. More news about the album’s first-week sales growth and streaming activity will be released in the coming days.

5. Sales of “The Life of a Showgirl” will of course increase in the coming days. The figures will be finalized on Thursday, October 9.

6. Final first-week physical sales and streaming data for the album will be announced on Sunday, October 12, along with its strong debut on the Billboard 200.

7. “The Life of a Showgirl” will undoubtedly debut atop the US best-selling album charts, marking her fifteenth number 1 album, surpassing Drake and JAY-Z (14 number 1 albums) and becoming the artist with the most number 1 albums in history, behind only The Beatles (19 number 1 albums).
