Spotify adds lossless streaming after eight years of development and research. Subscribers can now enjoy 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC audio for paid plans.

Starting September 10, Spotify Lossless will be available to Premium users in more than 50 regions, including the US, UK, and Australia. Spotify states that the rollout begins now and will continue through October. You will receive a notification letting you know when “Lossless” is ready in your country.

Surprisingly, Spotify Lossless is free for Premium subscribers, a huge relief since previous rumors suggested that lossless audio would be available as a paid add-on called Music Pro.
