ABADIR has announced a new album on SVBKVLT. ‘Kitbashing’ will land on 15th October on vinyl and digital formats, and you can listen to the first track, ‘Kicks and Clickbaits’, below.
The Berlin-based Egyptian artist’s latest LP is conceived as part of a new audio-visual project with the artist Nicolò Cervello. The tune, meanwhile, is a comment on our technological age, focusing on social media’s ability to entertain and enrage, amaze and appall.
Production-wise, audio snippets were captured from reels, suggested posts and sponsored ads before they were “cut, micro-edited and meshed together into a collage”. Expanding and contracting rhythms are also designed to reflect the stop-start pace of online scrolling.
