“It is with indescribable sadness that we report the passing of our beloved Ozzy Osbourne. He was with his family, surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family’s privacy at this time.”
The cause of death has not been revealed, although Osbourne had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease since 2019.
Osbourne’s vocal abilities—his exceptionally high pitch and powerful lung power—helped define the future of heavy metal.
Dressed in the signature funeral attire of his band Black Sabbath in the early 1970s, he earned the nickname “The Prince of Darkness.”
The band’s music was mysterious, not satanic as many mistakenly believed.
