Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” is the 1,182nd song to reach number 1 and the 85th song to debut directly at number one on the Hot 100.
Remember that the Hot 100 was created in August 1958.
Billboard has been compiling charts since 1940, and throughout that time, the charts have had different names, such as “National List of Best Selling Retail Records,” “Best Selling Singles,” “Most Played Juke Box Records,” and “Most Played by Jockeys.”
For 67 years, it has been called simply the Hot 100 and is the most influential and important chart in the world.
