Each year, the Library of Congress selects 25 recordings for the registry to preserve sound recordings that are “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” to American life.
Twenty-five recordings were added this year to the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry.
The 2025 selection spans 102 years, from 1913 (a recording of “Aloha ‘Oe” by the Hawaiian Quintette) to 2015 (the cast album of the sensational Broadway show, Hamilton: An American Musical).
