In an announcement on February 20, the Consell d’Eivissa (Ibiza Island Council) confirmed the signing of a “historic” and “unprecedented” agreement with Airbnb in an attempt to regulate short-term rentals in Ibiza.
The measure is part of ongoing actions against overtourism, such as fining tourists up to £2,580 for violating public alcohol consumption rules.

In just over two weeks, more than 300 accommodation listings in Ibiza have been removed from the market.
The president of the Consell d’Eivissa, Vicent Mari, says that this collaboration with AirBNB is “a relentless fight against the irregular tourist rental offer on the island.”
