Madonna’s latest comments about Donald Trump came after a controversial post by the official White House account on X on Wednesday, February 19.
The post features a fake Time magazine cover with the altered name “Trump” and the headline “long live the king” appearing over a smiling image of the president, who is also wearing a crown.

The post, which was shared after his administration ordered New York to end congestion pricing, was also accompanied by a quote attributed to Trump: “CONGESTION CHARGING IS DEAD. MANHATTAN AND ALL OF NEW YORK IS SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING.”
The post has understandably drawn swift criticism from those who recognize the irony of the White House’s reference to Trump as a monarch, and Madonna was one of those people, taking to her Instagram on Thursday to criticize the post.
“I thought this country was built by Europeans, who escaped living under the rule of a king, to establish a New World ruled by the people. “We currently have a president who calls himself our King. If this is a joke, I’m not laughing.”
