Diamonds finally reached number one in its 374th week on the chart, almost eight years.
It is the ninth time that Elton John has had an album at number one on the UK album chart.
The first time he achieved a number 1 was in 1973 with his album Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player.
Diamonds was released in 2017 and includes most of his greatest hits.
Following the limited edition album release in physical formats, including cassette for the first time, Diamonds dethroned Ed Sheeran from the number 1 spot.
