Eminem’s mother, Debbie Nelson, has passed away after a battle with advanced lung cancer, according to TMZ.
She died in St. Joseph, Missouri, ending a battle that was first made public in September.
Eminem and his mother went through a turbulent relationship during his childhood.
He expressed his mockery of her in hits like “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” and “My Name Is.”
The mother ended up suing her son for defamation in 1999, seeking $11 million. Although the judge ruled in his favor, in 2001 he only received $25,000.
