The film, initially announced in 2020, was set to delve into her life and career.
Julia Garner was rumored to have been offered the lead role.
However, in 2023, it was reported that the biopic had been put on hold at Universal Pictures in order for Madonna to focus on her Celebration Tour worldwide.
As of July 2024, the biopic appeared to be back on track.
