Billie Eilish’s song “When the Party’s Over” closes Kamala Harris’ announcement on reproductive care

In the one-minute video, reproductive freedom activist Hadley Duvall tells a devastating story of how she became pregnant after her stepfather raped her when she was just 12 years old. While she was able to have options like abortion for her pregnancy, Duvall warned that young women can no longer get the care they need, even when the pregnancy is the result of incest or rape.

The overturning of Roe v Wade (1973) in 2022 is the linchpin of Kamala’s reproductive freedom campaign.

Roe v. Wade was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court in which the Court ruled that the US Constitution generally protected the right to an abortion.

Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas expressed their support for Harris. “We voted for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because they are fighting to protect our reproductive freedom, our planet, and our democracy,” she said.

ROE V. WADE CASE
In Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decided that the right to privacy implied by the 14th Amendment protected abortion as a fundamental right. However, the government retained the power to regulate or restrict access to abortion based on the stage of pregnancy.

The decision struck down many abortion laws and sparked an ongoing debate about abortion in the United States over whether and to what extent abortion should be legal and who should decide on the legality of abortion and what the role of moral and religious views should be in the political sphere.
