According to the New York Times, the charges are not known, but his attorney Marc Agnifilo believes his client is being charged with racketeering and sex trafficking.
In a statement, attorney Agnifilo said, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unfair prosecution of Mr. Combs by the United States Attorney’s Office. Sean “Diddy” Combs is a music icon, a self-made entrepreneur, a loving family man and a proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, doting on his children and working to uplift the black community. He is a flawed person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has done nothing but cooperate with this investigation and voluntarily moved to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. These are the acts of an innocent man who has nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
Diddy is in federal custody at the FBI’s Manhattan field office.
Diddy was hit with at least eight civil sexual abuse lawsuits last year, including a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura who released a video showing him assaulting her.
The most recent suit against him comes from Dawn Richard, who filed a complaint last week in Manhattan federal court alleging that Diddy “manipulated” her into thinking that “abuse and exploitation were necessary for female artists to succeed in the music industry.”
