The news is that Los Tigres Del Norte failed to stop the registration of the Tigres Azules brand before the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce from Colombia (SIC).
Los Tigres del Norte argued that the Tigres Azules brand requested for registration reproduced and imitated their brand, which generated a risk of confusion and damage.
But it was not enough. Los Tigres Azules won the lawsuit.
The winning argument of Los Tigres Azules was based on the fact that “both brands represent different market segments and cultural contexts, demonstrating clear conceptual differences.”
The SIC then decided to grant the registration of the Tigres Azules brand, after finding no risk of consumer confusion.
