For 12 weeks, Taylor Swift’s “Tortured Poets Department” was the best-selling album in the United States. Now its reign will end tomorrow when Billboard releases its weekly chart. The new #1 album will be Eminem’s “The Death of Slim Shady” (281,000 copies sold).
This is the 11th time that Eminem has had an album at number one on the Billboard 200, the list of the 200 best-selling albums in the United States.
Eminem ties Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand and Kanye West for fifth place on the all-time list of artists with the most #1 albums. Ahead of them are The Beatles (with 19 #1 albums), Jay-Z and Taylor Swift (each with 14) and Drake (13).
“Thea Death of Slim Shaddy* is currently available only via streaming and digital downloads.
CD and vinyl editions will be released on September 13 and October 25, respectively.
