“The Tortured Poets Department” sold 115,000 units this week. The album debuted straight at the top of the chart the week of May 4 and has yet to relinquish the No. 1 spot.
Taylor Swift is the fifth artist in history with three or more albums to spend 10 or more weeks at No. 1.
Elvis Presley (four, between 1956 and 1961), The Kingston Trio (three, between 1959 and 1969), The Beatles (four, between 1964 and 1967) and Whitney Houston (three albums, between 1986 and 1993) have done so.
Taylor Swift is the only artist to hold the record this century.
Finally, “The Tortured Poets Department” is the first album by a woman to spend 10 consecutive weeks at No. 1 since 2012, when Adele’s “21” enjoyed 10 consecutive weeks at the top.
“21” spent a total of 24 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the chart between January and March 2012.
