Tuesday, April 16 marked the centenary of the birth of Henry Mancini.
Henry Mancini won the Grammy for Album of the Year in the first edition in 1959 for the soundtrack “The Music From Peter Gunn”).
He was also the first composer to win consecutive Oscars in the Best Original Song category for “Moon River” and “Days of Wine and Roses.”
Now the Mancini family is celebrating the centennial on multiple fronts, including a new album titled “The Henry Mancini 100th Sessions – Henry Has Company.” The album brings together some of the most respected classical music, jazz and pop stars in the world.
The album will be available on June 21.
