Salsa Superstar Maelo Ruiz releases new album

Maelo Ruiz is one of the brightest salsa stars globally in the world. Her new album is a small work of art of Romantic Salsa with essences of Old School.

Maelo Ruiz’s new album “Otra Vez” has just been released and the first single is titled “Solo Tú”, it is already having a great response from fans and critics throughout the hemisphere. The song was composed by Colombian John Upegui (“La Pluma de Oro”) and featured arrangements by Juan Carlos Cardona and production by Carlos Garcia and Juan Carlos Camuñas, all three from Puerto Rico.

The album will have a special free launch for its fans on April 4 at La Cervezeria Fok Brewing in Caguas, a city located in the Central Mountain Range of Puerto Rico, south of San Juan and Trujillo Alto.
(The Criollos de Caguas baseball team is considered one of the greatest of all time in all of Latin America, having won 18 Puerto Rican national titles and 5 Caribbean World Series titles.)

The new album “Otra Vez” has 14 tracks, it appeared on the market in the month of February worldwide and this year it will participate in the Latin Grammys aspiring for the Best Salsa Album award.

Maelo was already nominated for a Latin Grammy for his album “Puro Corazón.”

ABOUT MAELO RUIZ

Maelo Ruiz was born in New York City, but at the age of 4 she moved with his family to Puerto Rico, where his parents were originally from.

He began in music at the young age of 16 when he began singing at the “Escuela Libre de Música de Caguas”. But it was not until the age of 19 when Maelo Ruiz really began his professional career in music when he became the lead voice of Pedro Conga and his International Orchestra.

He remained with Pedro Conga for 7 years, recording 4 albums. His biggest hit with Pedro Conga was “No Te Quites La Ropa”, which won a gold record in Puerto Rico. Maelo also worked with Willie González.

He has recorded some of the key albums of universal salsa and his fans have not missed any of his work as a soloist after having worked with Pedro Conga.

His solo albums have been “Solo” (1994), “Experiencia” (1996), “Maelo Ruiz” (1999), “En Tiempo de Amo” (2003), “A Dos Épocas” (2004), “Regálame una noche” (2005), “Puro Corazón” (2007), “Amor y Sentimiento” (2010), “Lo Mejor de Mi” (2012), “The Romantic Salsa Idol” (2012), “Romántico y Boricua” (2014 ) and “Romántico y Boricua II” (2017).

Maelo’s catalog also has several Greatest Hits sets. The last one is titled “Romántico y Boricua The Best”, released last year, a collection that brings together the tracks from their albums of the same name from 2014 and 2017.

Maelo has more than 800 million streams on Spotify alone.
