Global music sales grew for the ninth consecutive year in 2023. Revenue from recorded music increased in all markets and regions, and in almost all formats, according to the IFPI (International Federation of Music Industry) World Music Report 2024. Phonographic).
Total revenue reached $28.6 billion, an increase of just over 10% from the previous year.
The total sales figure for 2023 is the highest level since 1999, when they totaled $22.2 billion that year.
Piracy and declining physical sales caused the market to bottom out at $13 billion in 2014.
