Sinead O’Connor’s estate and record label criticize Donald Trump’s use of “Nothing Compares 2 U” at campaign events
The estate of Sinead O’Connor and her label Chrysalis Records are expressing their displeasure after Donald Trump used her 1990 No. 1 hit, “Nothing Compares 2 U,” during recent campaign rallies in North Carolina and Maryland.
PRESS RELEASE
“Throughout her life, it is well known that Sinéad O’Connor lived by a fierce moral code defined by honesty, kindness, justice and decency towards her fellow human beings. Therefore, we learn with outrage that Donald Trump has been using his iconic rendition of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ at his political rallies. It is no exaggeration to say that Sinéad would have felt disgusted, hurt and insulted if her work were misrepresented in this way by someone she herself referred to as a ‘biblical demon.’ As guardians of her legacy, we demand that Donald Trump and his associates immediately desist from using her music.”
Sinead died of natural causes at age 56 in July 2023.
